HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (ABC4) — Thursday was the deadline for federal workers to return to work in person, per an executive order by President Donald Trump. The Hill Air Force Base in Utah prepared for this change, with many workers returning to in-person work today.
An executive order was signed by President Trump during his first day in office stating that all federal employees would “return to work in-person at their respective duty stations on a full-time basis, provided that department and agency heads shall make exemptions they deem necessary.”
Civilian personnel — who already had workspace set aside — are back at Hill Air Force Base working in person, according to a statement released Thursday, Feb. 6.
For employees that did not have a workspace currently assigned due to previous telework agreements, Hill Air Force Base said leaders are working to provide a workspace for their full-time in-person return by Trump’s deadline.
“For employees who are currently on remote status who reside outside 50 miles from their installation, leadership is working to comply with the following: within 21 days, all GS-15 / NH04, non-local remote employees will report full-time in person to their worksite,” the statement said.
According to the statement, all other employees on remote status are expected to report full-time in person to their worksite “as soon as possible,” with a four-month deadline.
