In an affidavit of probable cause, law enforcement said Ring footage showed a masked man shoot 46-year-old Nathan Rogers multiple times killing him.
Rogers is the owner of Inland Kava Bar in Coeur d’Alene. He died at his home on Dorado Avenue in Post Falls.
The affidavit says footage showed the suspect entering the home around 5 a.m. The shooting occurred around 1:15 p.m.
Court docs go on to say footage showed the suspect removing his mask, and he was identified as 47-year-old Jason Rook by the victim’s girlfriend.
Roger’s girlfriend told police she dated Rook for about a year which ended in 2023. She said they separated due to his drug use.
She told police Rook had been harassing her and posted intimate photos of her without her consent online. She also told police she had planned to file for a protection order against Rook the next day.
Rook was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of first-degree murder, burglary, and stalking.
Roger’s family was in court on Thursday afternoon for Rook’s appearance.
“None of us have been able to sleep until we found out he had been arrested,” said Roger’s brother, Daniel. “Some of us are very concerned.”
The family asked the judge not to release Rook on bail. The judge granted the request.
The next hearing will take place within the next two weeks.
