Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Taylor McDaniel arrested the three individuals about 10:56 p.m.
The arrest occurred on Highway 687 in Clay County following a traffic pursuit that started in Laurel County at Highway 638 and Hal Rogers Parkway in London after London Police Sgt. Ryan Jackson observed a silver colored Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed. A check of the plate revealed that the owner of the vehicle had two outstanding felony warrants, according to the Laurel County release.
When the vehicle turned onto Highway 638 from Hal Rogers Parkway it failed to signal a turn. Sgt. Jackson attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, it failed to stop traveling at a high rate of speed and went onto the wrong side of the roadway before being stopped on the far side of Manchester on Highway 687 in Clay County, according to the release.
The use of spike strips in an attempt to disable the fleeing vehicle also damaged numerous police vehicles, including vehicles from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, London Police Department, and Manchester Police Department.
Police arrested the driver, Michael W. Flannery, 25, of North Laurel Ave., Corbin, charging him with speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit, first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, second-degree criminal mischief, and seven counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
Police arrested passenger Andrew Hall, 41, of North Highway 1223, Corbin, charging him with menacing and resisting arrest. During arrest this individual refused to exit the suspect vehicle and following a brief struggle with officers was taken into custody, according to the release.
Police arrested Misty Vaughn, 32, of Davenport Drive, Lexington, charging her with two outstanding warrants including a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. In addition, she was charged on a Knox District Court bench warrant of arrest with no bond allowed regarding charges of second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
