New Year’s Eve is a big drinking occasion, and there are a number of ways you can make sure you make it home without getting behind the wheel.A regional law firm, Lawrence and Associates, is offering $25 Uber vouchers for people in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. It’s part of the inaugural “Arrive Alive” campaign to help prevent drunk driving this New Year’s Eve. “We want to make it easier for people to make the responsible choice. By providing free Uber vouchers, we hope to save lives and make our roads safer for everyone,” the firm told WLWT in a statement.You must be 21 or older to register for these vouchers. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to one per household. The vouchers can be used anytime from 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 3:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.Last year, Ohio State Troopers made 208 impaired driving arrests during the four-day New Year’s holiday period, and there were six deadly crashes. As always, you can expect to see extra patrols on the road and increased checkpoints.The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is also on high alert this holiday. “You can go to a party if you want to do that,” Deputy James Davenport said. “If you are one that drinks, they can call for Uber. They can call for a Lyft.” Davenport with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office says the best thing you can do if you’ve been drinking is urging you to take advantage of all the options available to make it home safely after ringing in the New Year.”We all have to be safe because we all have loved ones out on the road,” Davenport said. “When we share the road with everyone. So if you want to go and do these things, then call for these services that can get you from your destination.” He says even one drink can put people’s lives at risk. “It goes back to where a person just feels that they’re not that intoxicated,” Davenport said. “They feel that — they can — they’re not that impaired. They can do it. They can drive.”If you see an impaired driver on the road, call 677.There used to be a CareCab service that offered free rides within the 275 loop on New Year’s Eve.
