A few possible showers for the big game Sunday
P.M. IN ARMSTRONG PARK. OUR TIME IS 646. THE WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER IMPACT DAY BECAUSE, JIM, A LOT OF FOG OUT THERE THIS MORNING. YES, WE’VE SEEN THE FOG GET THICKER HERE. WE WENT ON THE AIR AT 6 A.M. AND NOW IN A LOT OF LOCATIONS, THAT VISIBILITY CLOSE TO ZERO OFFICIALLY THE DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10:00. YESTERDAY THE FOG BURNED OFF ABOUT 830 9:00 TODAY, MAYBE A LITTLE MORE STUBBORN VISIBILITY NOW LESS THAN A MILE IN MANY LOCATIONS. I DON’T THINK IT MATTERS WHERE YOU ARE. THERE ARE A LOT OF FOGGY SPOTS OUT THERE. WE ARE VERY WARM RIGHT NOW, VERY WARM AND VERY HUMID. QUITE OBVIOUSLY. 69 IN SLIDELL. 68 OUR CURRENT TEMPERATURE AT THE AIRPORT, GRAND ISLE. YOU’RE A LITTLE BIT COOLER. HERE’S ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I THINK THE FOG WILL BE A LITTLE MORE STUBBORN. YESTERDAY WE HAD A BIT OF A BREEZE DURING THE 6:00 BROADCAST. NOW THOSE WINDS A LITTLE BIT LIGHTER. ALL THE CONDITIONS IN PLACE FOR THIS RIGHT HERE. THIS IS OUR LIVE CAMERA IN CHALMETTE LOOKING TOWARD NEW ORLEANS, NOT PICKING UP ON ANYTHING RIGHT NOW AS VISIBILITY THERE OBVIOUSLY IS CLOSE TO ZERO, JUST LIKE THE AIRPORT, 68 DEGREES AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL, WITH THE DEW POINT AT 68. SO THE HUMIDITY AT 100%. HERE COMES THE COLD FRONT. OKAY. IT’S NOT THE STRONGEST COLD FRONT IN THE WORLD, AND IT’S CREEPING CLOSER TO US. PROBABLY WON’T MAKE IT OUT HERE INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING, BUT IT MAY TRIGGER 1 OR 2 SHOWERS FOR. LET’S GO. HOUR BY HOUR TAKE YOU THROUGH THE DAY TODAY. PAUSING THINGS HERE AT THE NOON HOUR. THAT’S WHEN THE FOG SHOULD BE GONE. WE ACTUALLY SHOULD BE SEEING A DECENT AMOUNT OF SUNSHINE TODAY. LIKE YESTERDAY. GETTING CLOSE TO 80 DEGREES IN MOST COMMUNITIES. NOW WE’RE PICKING UP ON 1 OR 2 SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON AT 3:00. THEY WOULD BE VERY, VERY LIGHT SHOWERS. SO AS YOU’RE HEADING TO THE SUPERDOME, I THINK YOU’RE LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. BUT HERE WE ARE AT 6:00, RIGHT AROUND KICKOFF, STARTING TO SEE A FEW MORE SHOWERS AFTER THE GAME. A FEW SHOWERS IN PLACE AS WELL. THE $2.19 EMERGENCY RAIN PONCHO THAT YOU CAN PICK UP AT ANY CORNER STORE. PUT IT IN YOUR BACK POCKET TODAY, BECAUSE I DON’T THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE WIDESPREAD RAIN, BUT LET’S GO TO MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. IF YOU’RE STAYING IN THE QUARTER, STAYING IN THE CBD, LOOKS LIKE WE’RE STILL PICKING UP ON SOME SHOWERS. SO IT’S GOOD TO HAVE ONE CLOSE BY JUST IN CASE YOU’RE GOING TO NEED IT. MONDAY MORNING WILL START FOGGY AGAIN THROUGHOUT THE DAY. MONDAY A FEW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE. CHANCE FOR RAIN OFFICIALLY AT ABOUT 30%. WE’RE CONCERNED ABOUT FOG AGAIN MONDAY, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE FOCUSED A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE COAST BECAUSE THAT DRIER AIR WILL BE MOVING IN WITH THAT COLD FRONT TOMORROW MORNING. YES, FOGGY TUESDAY MORNING. HERE YOU ARE, THE METRO PROBABLY GETTING A LITTLE BIT FOGGY AS WELL. SO HERE’S YOUR FORECAST FOR TODAY AT THE SUPERDOME FOR THE GAME. PARTLY CLOUDY AT THE NOON HOUR. A STRAY SHOWER AT 4:00, A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS AT 9:00. THEN TOMORROW, ONCE WE GET RID OF THE MORNING FOG, IT WILL BE PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS. HIGH TEMPERATURES GOING TO BE IN THE LOW TO MID 70S. WE GET A LITTLE BIT COOLER MONDAY IN THE AFTERNOON. 73 IS GOING TO BE THE HIGH TEMPERATURE THERE. THE BREEZE PICKS UP FOR US. SO I THINK AFTER TUESDAY FOG IS NOT GOING TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE. BUT WE HAVE WEATHER IMPACT DAYS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE’RE GOING TO HAVE WIDESPREAD RAIN, MAYBE A FEW THUNDERSTORMS AS WELL, AND OUR TEMPERATURES GETTING BACK CLOSER TO NORMAL AS WE GET TO THE END OF THE WEEK, BEGINNING OF THE WEEKEND REALLY LOOKS LIKE THIS IS GOING TO BE AN UNSETTLED WEEK. GOOD AMOUNT OF CLOUD COVER, VERY GOOD CHANCE FOR RAIN, ESPECIALLY WEDNESDAY A
A few possible showers for the big game Sunday
Your Super Bowl Sunday forecast includes some occasional clouds and a small chance of an isolated afternoon shower. There’s also a chance we could see a few showers as we go through the evening, but that chance of rain is officially only at about 20%. Morning fog will again be an issue for us over the next couple of days, as we’re tracking a cold front to the north of us. That cold front will slowly be sliding through this evening and may make it to the coast by Monday morning. Monday’s fog will likely be focused a little closer to the coast where visibility will likely be less than a mile. Another front will approach by late Tuesday, and that will bring us a better chance for showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This front will likely stay close by and move back north as a warm front, keeping our weather somewhat cloudy and unsettled through the beginning of the weekend. It will also be breezy with wings anywhere from 10 to 15 mph per hour and possibly even higher than that by the end of the week.
