The owner of luxury swimming pool company whose vehicle was used for fly-tipping in a country lane has been fined more than £600.
It comes after footage captured by a witness in Crockenhill Lane, Eynsford, was used to track down Tony Keogh.
He pleaded guilty to knowingly causing or permitting fly-tipping on the public highway, whether or not he gave any instructions for this to be done.
Following an investigation by the council’s environmental enforcement team, the case was brought to court.
The incident happened at around 5.20pm on February 14 last year.
Waste was tipped from a vehicle owned by Bespoke Swimming Pools Ltd and had blocked the road.
Keogh, the director of the company, was not believed to be driving at the time of the incident.
Sevenoaks District Council was initially contacted by a resident who witnessed the offence and had recorded part of the registration.
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) later confirmed the vehicle was in the area at the time of the offence.
On Friday January 17 at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court, Keogh was handed a fine of £670.
It was £300 for the offence, £250 in council costs and a £120 victim surcharge.
Cllr Irene Roy (Con), cabinet member for cleaner and greener, said: “This case sends out a stark warning to vehicle owners.
“Where there is evidence, we will take action if their vehicle is used for fly-tipping.”
