The tours start up again for the season on Saturday, March 1 and will run until Friday, October 31. Adult tickets cost £40 and can be booked online here.

The 90-minute walking tour takes visitors through Poplar, the East London setting of the TV show which is actually filmed outside the dockyard’s ropery.

Guests will follow in the footsteps of characters such as Nurse Trixie, Sister Julienne and Dr Turner as they are taken to locations like Thunderbolt Pier, which was turned into a London dock for a scene starring actor and former Strictly contestant Helen George.

The tour also stops at the HMS Cavalier, which has doubled as a fishing trawler and cargo ship throughout the series; the Admiral’s Offices, which provide the exterior of Poplar Maternity Home and London Hospital; and Chummy’s Hill, where Nurse Noakes learnt to ride her bike.

Other notable locations included on the tour are the Grosvenor Hotel and Rakesby Street Homeless Shelter.

The tours are led by a costumed midwife to help set the scene and are also overseen by Neal Street Productions who have provided props and costumes from the show.
