WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Trumbull County Coroner has identified the man who died after a house fire Tuesday morning in Warren.
The victim is Christopher Messersmith, 56.
Crews were called to the 1700 block of Bonnie Brae Ave. NE in Warren around 7:15 a.m.
Firefighters said Messersmith was found dead in the upstairs bedroom of the house where the fire started.
Warren Fire Chief Ken Nussle says most of the fire was contained to the second floor.
“There was a large volume of smoke coming from the second floor. Firefighters gained entry and conducted a primary search and were ventilating as they went,” he said.
He says there were three other adults in the home at the time who were all able to make it out unharmed.
“They didn’t sustain any injuries of any significance, so nobody else went to the hospital,” Nussle said.
The State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire, which is still unknown.
