Erick Luna-Chavez is currently being held at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
“The female victim was pregnant and has since stabilized,” a news release states. “Both mother and baby are expected to survive. The investigation remains ongoing, and more information may be released when available and appropriate.”
FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Fort Smith police say a suspect is in custody after a shooting on Tuesday morning.
FSPD responded to a domestic incident in the 3900 block of MacArthur Drive around 9:55 a.m., according to a news release.
Once on the scene, officers found a victim with “serious injuries” who was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The department said a suspect is in custody and there is no threat to the public.
Fort Smith Public Schools said in a social media post around 10 a.m. that Sunnymede Elementary was under a precautionary lockdown due to the incident.
“Law enforcement officers are on-site to secure the school’s perimeter and ensure the safety of all students and staff. All students and staff are accounted for,” the district said.
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
