A woman has been arrested for using a credit card belonging to a Kansas City sports anchor and reporter found dead while covering the Super Bowl. Adan Manzano, sports anchor for KGKC Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, was on assignment in New Orleans when he passed away Wednesday. Kenner Police say they arrested Danette Colbert of Slidell for using a credit card belonging to Mr. Manzano at several stores in the New Orleans area. Kenner Police also say security video from the hotel shows Colbert with Manzano on the morning of February 5, 2025. The footage also shows her leaving the room alone later that morning.At this time, Colbert is only charged with property crimes, including fraud and theft-related offenses.The investigation is ongoing. Manzano, who was originally from Mexico City, moved to Topeka, Kansas, in 2018 before graduating from Kansas State University. According to his LinkedIn page, Manzano has been with Telemundo Kansas City since April 2021. “As KGKC’s Sports Anchor & Reporter, Adan was a true professional and a rising star, who exemplified excellence in his work,” said KGKC General Manager Steve Downing. “We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community.”Downing’s statement went on to say that the station is cooperating with law enforcement in New Orleans as they investigate Manzano’s death.Manzano was 27 years old.
