(NEXSTAR) — Lynne Marie Stewart, well-known for her roles on “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” has died, according to multiple reports. She was 78.

Stewart died suddenly on Friday, roughly two months after a tumor was found near her liver and gallbladder, Bette Smith, her representative, told USA TODAY. Additional details were not immediately available.

“She was the kindest and (most) honorable person,” Smith said, adding that Stewart did not care about receiving “pay or press” for her roles, but instead “loved the craft.”

Stewart, a Los Angeles native, had recently wrapped filming for season 17 of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and her upcoming pickleball-related film, “Dink,” Smith told Deadline.

The actress started at The Groundlings in Los Angeles with her earliest role as a cheerleader in “Drive, He Said,” Jack Nicholson’s 1971 directorial debut, her IMDb page shows. Throughout the 1970s, Stewart also appeared in “American Graffiti,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “M*A*S*H*” and “Husbands, Wives & Lovers.”

She would also be cast as several characters but likely her most popular was as Miss Yvonne, “The Most Beautiful Woman in Puppetland,” in “Pee-wee’s Playhouse.” Stewart worked opposite Pee-wee, played by Paul Reubens, who died in 2023 after being diagnosed with cancer.

Stewart’s illustrious career also included recent roles in Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie,” the television series “2 Broke Girls,” and more than a dozen episodes of “It’s Always Sunny,” where she played Bonnie Kelly, the mother of actor Charlie Day’s character.

Day took to Instagram on Saturday to mourn Stewart’s passing, writing, “The brilliant and talented Lynne Marie Stewart. Rest in peace. Thank you for all the years of laughter.” The post included a clip of Stewart, as Bonnie in “It’s Always Sunny,” with text overlay reading, “RIP TV mom. Thanks for 20 years of laughs. You deserve a standing ovation.”
