A Hanover native was crowned Miss York County 2025 during the 76th Annual Miss York County Scholarship Competition in downtown York last Saturday.
Finley Miller, 19, took home the top honor during the ceremony inside the historic Valencia Ballroom. The win continues a pattern of success for Miller at competitions throughout central Pennsylvania. She was crowned the 54th Miss Hanover during her senior year at Hanover High School and won the title of Miss Greater Juniata Valley 2024 last February. She also competed over the summer at Miss Pennsylvania, where she finished as the third-runner up and overall evening gown winner. She’ll return to compete for the title of Miss Pennsylvania 2025 this June.
Two other Miss Hanover alums, Anberlin Weaver and Kendall DeShong (Miss Hanover 2023-2024), joined Miller in competitions at Miss York County. The age groups for the contests were divided into Teen (13-18) and Miss (18-28) categories and each competition was judged on several criteria including interview, talent, fitness, evening wear and on-stage question.
Contestants were also tasked with championing a community service initiative, or CSI. Miller’s initiative, Project Essential, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit she created to provide essential products to those in need, including school supplies, hygiene products, and food donations. Through Project Essential, she has been able to make donations to local YWCAs, organize holiday food drives and share her message of giving back with hundreds of her fellow students at Penn State University in State College.
Three other winners were crowned Saturday and will be joining Miller at the 2025 Miss Pennsylvania competition later this year:
-
Heather Galio, 21, Miss White Rose. Senior at George Mason University. CSI: Post-Secondary Pathways and Readiness
-
Abby Traxler, 24, Miss Susquehanna Valley. BA of Business Administration from Lycoming College. CSI: Common Cents: Promotion Financial Literacy for a Brighter Future

Jaylyn Reck, 18, Miss York County Teen. Senior at Northern Bedford County. CSI: Feeding Futures, Building Dreams One Meal at a Time
