Fresh off another winter storm on Friday, Cincinnati residents are waking up to a new reality outside that they haven’t experienced in quite awhile — abundant snow.That is because the snowfall totals as of Saturday have already surpassed the totals seen in four of the past five winter seasons locally within the region.You will have to go all the way back to 2020 and 2021 to remember a time when winter was this bad. That year, snowfall totals reached 32 inches in the Cincinnati area during the winter season.That year was also one of the worst winters seen in all of the 21st century so far, ranking as the winter with the fifth most snowfall seen across the past 25 seasons.As of Jan. 11, Cincinnati has seen 19.1 inches in the 2024-2025 season so far. And, if the second half of winter ends up being equally bad as the first half, it is not impossible that this year’s totals could also make it on that list.January and February historically receive about equal amounts of snowfall in the Cincinnati area, with an average of 6.9 inches seen in January across the past 25 seasons and 6.8 inches in February.Total snowfall totals average 21.5 inches in Cincinnati across the past 25 winter seasons.
