Ramsgate mum left frustrated as Volkswagen Golf targeted in paint attack in St James Avenue

A frustrated mum whose car was covered in paint says she does not understand why residents are being targeted by nuisance youngsters.

Ami Alexandra discovered her white Volkswagen Golf had been vandalised while parked near her home in St James Avenue, Ramsgate.

The 32-year-old says there has also been a series of recent car and garage break-ins in the street, while another motorist says he previously suffered a near-identical paint attack.

So worried is she about repeat incidents that Miss Alexandra has even bought and installed a Ring doorbell to deter would-be vandals.

“I can’t quite work out why my car would have been targeted,” she said, recalling how she discovered the damage on Wednesday morning.

“Honestly, I just feel confused. I have no issues with anyone.

“It’s a completely random attack.”

The mum-of-two suspects those responsible are teenagers believed to have been involved in other incidents in the area.

“Kids are bored nowadays. They have nothing better to do than act up and they know they can get away with it,” she said.

“I’ve just bought a Ring doorbell to try to deter anything from happening again.

“It needs to stop. Unfortunately, I don’t know what can be done.”

Earlier this week KentOnline revealed the areas of the county most impacted by anti-social behaviour.

More incidents were recorded in Thanet than all but two districts – Maidstone and Medway – but reports have dropped by 6%.

According to community safety experts Resolve, more than one in 10 people say they experience anti-social behaviour at least once per week.

Its chief executive, Rebecca Bryant, said: “Left unresolved, anti-social behaviour devastates the lives of victims, wreaks havoc on communities and can often be a precursor to more serious crime.

“It is therefore sadly no surprise that most people think more needs to be done to tackle it.”

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the attack on Miss Alexandra’s car.

A spokeswoman said: “It is believed the damage took place between 8pm on Tuesday, February 18, and 8.20am the following morning.

“Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/28682/25.”
