WSIL(Carterville, Ill.) — This morning, we are tracking temperatures that are on the chilly side, with most locations reporting the low to mid 30s across southern Illinois, with slightly warmer temperatures present across our southern counties.
Today, you can expect to see temperatures remain on the chilly side. Temperatures through the rest of the morning will continue to be in the lower 30s, and highs today will be in the lower 40s across the area. Skies this morning will be partly cloudy, but then cloud cover will return to the area late this morning into the afternoon.
Skies through the evening will be overcast, and a few isolated showers are possible after 6 this evening. Isolated showers will linger across the region through the midnight hour. After midnight, we will see shower chances become more scattered to widespread. A warm front will lift northward in the early morning hours tomorrow, and it should clear the region by midmorning. Behind the front a few scattered thunderstorms are possible.
A cold front will push through the area in the afternoon. Once the cold front is through the region, conditions will dry out. Temperatures tomorrow for highs will be in the mid to upper 50s to lower 60s, but these highs will come earlier in the day. Once the front passes, temperatures will drop into the low to mid 40s by the evening.
Temperatures will remain cold for Sunday with highs only around 40. We are tracking a potential wintry system once we get into early next week, but it will depend on how cold temperatures get.
