As a memorial continues to grow on Bourbon Street for the victims killed in the New Year’s Day terror attack, residents from all over New Orleans have paid their tributes. New Orleans sister station WDSU was there as an emotional scene unfolded at the site where the victims died. Residents were seen writing the names of those killed on a building wall. “Reggie…Matthew…Nikyra…”As a street musician played “The Star-Spangled Banner,” people, one by one, took Sharpies to the walls of the historic French Quarter, writing the known names of the victims killed in the New Year’s Day attack.A friend of one of the victims, Matthew Tenedorio, was visibly shaken as he wrote a message on the wall. “You didn’t win, terror,” he said, choking back tears. “You just made us stronger. Matthew was a friend. We will never forget this. Never.”Other messages written on the wall read “We will never forget,” and “We will honor you.”
