BENTON, Ill. (WSIL) — Water service has been restored for all customers, according to the Rend Lake Conservancy District.

The Rend Lake Conservancy District updated the public on February 12, at 2:39 p.m., stating all customers are back in service. This comes after the water district announced they were working on a repair on a line which affected multiple communities.

The repairs started on February 11. This in-turn resulted in low water pressure and outages for nearby communities.

The communities affected include Christopher, Mulkeytown and Du Quoin.

In an update on Tuesday night, a representative stated they anticipated the Village of Mulkeytown and City of Christopher will exhaust their services and lose pressure in their water systems.

The time when water services were anticipated to resume was originally scheduled for Tuesday, however, they were then extended through until Wednesday afternoon.

The Christopher Elementary School alerted the public on Wednesday morning about dismissing early due to unexpected water issues.

The Rend Lake Conservancy District stated the communities of Mulkeytown, Christopher and Du Quoin will now be able to collect samples once the Rend Lake Conservancy has satisfactory sample results.

The City of Du Quoin issued a city-wide boil water order on Wednesday until further notice.

The Mulkeytown Water District also issued a boil water order. They said this order is in effect for several days.

The City of Christopher said a boil water order will likely be in effect until Thursday, February 13.
