An ice storm is forecast to hit the Midwest this week, and while our neighboring states to the north will see the brunt of it, Kentucky is expected to see mostly rainfall and thunderstorms.
Here’s what to know.
Hazardous weather outlook issued by NWS Louisville
A Hazardous Weather Outlook was issued on Wednesday for parts of Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky.
“Showers and thunderstorms will move across the area this afternoon into tonight,” the outlook said. “While the entire area has a chance to see thunderstorms, there is the potential for a few strong to severe storms across south central Kentucky [Wednesday] evening into Thursday morning. Confidence in severe storms is low; however, if any strong storms develop, damaging wind gusts and an isolated spin-up tornado would be possible.”
While the rest of the state is expected to see rain and thunderstorms, Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana may see mixed precipitation from the ice storm.
