WELL, LINDSAY, WE KNOW THIS HAPPENED AROUND 330 THIS MORNING. COVINGTON POLICE RESPONDING TO REPORTS OF GUNFIRE HERE ALONG WEST SEVENTH STREET AT WHAT WE’RE TOLD IS A SHORT TERM RENTAL UNIT. THEY FOUND TWO PEOPLE SHOT. AND TONIGHT WE DID OBTAIN NEARBY DOORBELL CAMERA FOOTAGE WHERE YOU CAN HEAR A GUNSHOT ECHO THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD. NOW, THIS WAS TAKEN VERY CLOSE TO THE SHOOTING SCENE. WE’RE TOLD THE VICTIMS ARE STILL BEING TREATED AT UC MEDICAL CENTER FOR NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. AGAIN, THIS IS A VERY BUSY AREA NEAR MAINSTRASSE AND COVINGTON. WE TALKED WITH NEIGHBORS AND BUSINESSES NEARBY WHO SAW THE LARGE POLICE PRESENCE THIS MORNING, AND MANY SAY THEY WERE SURPRISED AND SHOCKED TO LEARN WHAT HAPPENED. THE VILLAGE IS VERY TIGHT KNIT AND IT’S A VERY, VERY SAFE PLACE. AND THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN DOWN HERE. SO IT WAS A LITTLE SHOCKING. IT’S A LITTLE SCARY, BUT I MEAN, WHENEVER WE’RE OUT, YOU KNOW, ON THE WEEKENDS THERE’S ALWAYS A LOT OF COPS AROUND. SO I DO FEEL, YOU KNOW, SAFE FOR THE MOST PART AROUND HERE. Two people have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting early Sunday morning in Covington, according to police.Officers say it happened around 3:35 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of W. 7th Street.Authorities say they responded to the area for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers say they came across the scene and “several witnesses.”According to officers, two victims were found and taken to UC Medical Center. Their specific condition or injuries were not immediately disclosed.Police say the suspect is still at large, but say the shooting was an isolated incident.”We have no indication of there being a threat to the public,” police say.
