ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two students were allegedly shot by another student at a Tennessee high school Wednesday morning, authorities have confirmed.

The shooting happened at Antioch High School, located roughly 20 miles southeast of Nashville, at around 11 a.m. CT.

According to Metro Nashville Police, the situation at the school is contained. They say a student fired at two others before turning the gun on themself.

The conditions of all three students are unknown.

A parent speaking with Nexstar’s WKRN said their student claimed the shooting happened in a cafeteria within the school.

In a statement, Sean Braisted, chief of communications and technology for Metro Nashville Public Schools, said Antioch High School “is on a lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building.”

The person responsible for [the] shooting is no longer a threat,” the statement continued. “We will be gathering students in the auditorium and will provide information on reunification as soon as possible. This is an active crime scene and investigation. We will work with the MNPD to provide further updates as they become available.”

Dozens of law enforcement officials were seen outside the school and crews from Nexstar’s WKRN encountered a very active scene around the area.

Students were also seen boarding buses, apparently preparing to go to a nearby reunification center.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are also reportedly on scene.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
