Firefighters from at least three jurisdictions worked together to battle a brushfire about 100 yards south of the city limit this morning.
Maricopa, Goodyear and Ak-Chin Fire Departments responded to the fire just south of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, between Hartman and Murphy Roads, at 9:25 a.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.
Ak-Chin Fire Department has a mutual aid agreement with Maricopa, and Maricopa is automatic aid partners with Goodyear.
“We’re part of Phoenix Mutual Aid, so if we’re on a call, they might be dispatched to us,” Maricopa Fire and Medical Department spokesperson Monica Williams previously said of Goodyear F.D. “Sometimes, when they’re in town training or grocery shopping, they may get dispatched because they’re the closest.”
It is unclear if the blaze had spread into city limits. Firefighters had extinguished it by 10:15 a.m.
InMaricopa has contacted Williams with questions about the cause of the fire.
