Billings fireworks retailer family stresses safety for New Year’s celebrations | Billings News

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Weber family in Billings is encouraging residents to start the New Year with fireworks while keeping safety in mind.

The family, known for their expertise in fireworks, stresses the importance of safe celebrations. They are reminding customers of the same safety precautions they emphasize during Independence Day.

Matt Weber, along with his sons, Lane, Elam, and Jude Weber, emphasized the importance of safety during these celebrations. Matt said,”Anything that we’re gonna talk about in July – as far as like fire danger, being safe as far as handling fireworks… obviously for kids, have an adult present. Don’t send them out there without having an adult present,” said the Weber family.

Matt Weber highlighted the importance of handling fireworks safely, particularly in the current dry conditions. “It is dry out here and there is no moisture on the ground so please… be safe when it comes to your fireworks,” he said.

Despite the cooler winter temperatures, the family warns that the area is experiencing drier conditions than usual, increasing the risk of fire.

Matt also shared his emotional connection to New Year’s fireworks and hopes others can create meaningful memories. He recalled a memorable experience after Hurricane Katrina. “We were there with an organization called ‘Samaritan’s Purse’ – and their… like somebody brought a ton of fireworks… So we were on the beach… a fog rolled in and fireworks were just blowing off in the sky and just illuminating everything… so that was – that was probably one of the coolest like, New Year’s experiences that I have…,” he said.
