Contractor on probation for theft stipulates to parole violation after DV arrest
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A contractor on probation through at least three courts who was arrested on a domestic violence charge last weekend in Boardman stipulated Friday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to a probation violation.

John Bartos, 42, will have a hearing on the violation within the next 30 days.

Judge Maureen Sweeney set a bond of $5,000 on the probation violation. That is in addition to a $3,000 bond he was given Monday in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman where he was arraigned on a first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence after an arrest early Saturday morning.

Bartos pleaded not guilty to that charge at his arraignment.

He was held in jail on the probation violation hold for Mahoning County. It is not known if courts in Trumbull and Columbiana counties, where Bartos is also on probation, have asked for him to be held as well.

If there are no other holds and Bartos can post his two bonds, he will be released from jail.

Bartos is on probation from courts in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties after pleading guilty to charges he took money from people to do work but never did it.

He said when sentenced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court a series of “bad decisions” and gambling issues were responsible.

Bartos did make restitution.

Bartos was arrested at about 12:25 a.m. Saturday after a woman at a home in the 1300 block of Valley View Drive told police that Bartos threw a cell phone at her while she was sleeping, threw her against a wall and pushed her down to the ground before leaving.

Reports said Bartos went to a home in Hubbard. Hubbard police went there and took him into custody for Boardman police. He was then booked into the jail.
