
WSIL(Carterville, Ill.) — This morning, we are tracking temperatures that absolutely brutal across the region. Most locations are on the single digits areawide, with wind chill values that are as low as minus 10 to minus 15 degrees this morning. For this reason, there is a Cold Weather Advisory for the entire region until 10 AM.
For your Thursday, we are tracking temperatures that will be cold. Through the mid-morning hours, temperatures will still be in the single digits, and afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper teens. Potentially, we could see the lower 20s for highs in some of our southern counties. Winds today will be out of the north and west at 10 to 15 miles per hour, gusting to 20 miles per hour. This will cause wind chills to linger into the single digits through the entire day.
Today, you can expect to see mostly sunny skies. But, passing upper level clouds are possible as we head into the afternoon and evening. Overnight, we will see mostly clear skies.
Temperatures tomorrow will certainly be dangerously cold, but not as cold as today; We are tracking morning lows that will be in the lower to mid single digits (2 to 7 degrees) on average across the area. Winds will be mostly calm, so sub-zero wind chill values are not anticipated.
Skies tomorrow will be mostly sunny, and highs will likely reach the mid to upper 20s. So, we will be much warmer but still below average. For the weekend, we are tracking lots of sunshine, with temperatures that will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
