Super Bowl LIX tickets seem cheaper than in recent years. Data shows where it ranks in the last decade
Super Bowl tickets are known to be expensive. But data is showing that Super Bowl LIX (59) is on track to be less expensive side than last year. We’ve been tracking Super Bowl ticket prices on the secondary market since the NFL playoffs began, and after the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles won their respective conference championships, prices on tickets have gone down. As of this writing, one of the least expensive tickets we found online was at Vivid Seats for under $2,500. To put that into perspective, the lowest ticket price we saw on Vivid Seats for Super Bowl 58 was nearly $5,400. That’s a drop of nearly $3,000 in prices. It’s not just Vivid Seats. Data shows that sites like Stubhub and Ticketmaster are also seeing prices be less than previous Super Bowl years. For example, in 2023, when the Chiefs and Eagles were in the Super Bowl as well, the least expensive ticket on Stubhub was $3,239. As of this writing, the least expensive ticket on StubHub is $2,688, almost $600 less. The chart below highlights the lowest-priced ticket we could find from each Super Bowl dating back to 2022. You can see that for Super Bowl LVI (56) and Super Bowl LVII (57), the ticket prices hovered in a similar range. But then, in 2024, prices spiked dramatically.According to officials at ticketing resale site TickPick, the dramatic spike has to do primarily with one thing: location. “Location is becoming a major factor in Super Bowl demand,” said Brett Goldberg, co-CEO of TickPick. “Last year’s Super Bowl in Vegas stood out not only for its accommodations but also for the extra attractions, offering fans more than just the game. As fans seek more value, Vegas set the bar.” This year, the Super Bowl is in New Orleans, a place where the Super Bowl has been held ten times before, most recently in 2013. Goldberg said, though, it’s not necessarily only the location factoring into the demand for Super Bowl tickets this year.“The matchup still plays a significant role, but with both the Chiefs and Eagles having both made multiple Super Bowl appearances as of late, we’re seeing less demand from fans to make the trip,” Goldberg said. “Last year’s game benefited from Vegas’s added value, elevating both the ticket and the experience.” While tickets are in less demand than last year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas, data provided by TickPick shows that Super Bowl LIX is still among the most expensive Super Bowls on record in terms of average purchase price. As of this writing, it would rank as the fourth-most expensive since 2014, behind Super Bowl LIV (54), Super Bowl LV (55) and Super Bowl LVII (58). It’s unknown if prices will continue to fall or if they will hover in this $3,000 range until kickoff on Sunday. We’ll continue to keep track of prices and update this story with any changes.
