LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Department of Public Safety and Arkansas State Police have joined to launch a new webpage providing resources for human trafficking victims in Arkansas.
Officials with the agencies said the launch will help with the state’s mission to support victims and educate the public on recognizing the signs of human trafficking. The webpage features a county resource map and a way to report potential trafficking to the ASP.
“Prevention is the first step toward action,” ASP Director Col. Mike Hagar said. “Our sincere hope is that this new webpage will help to empower Arkansans to recognize the signs of trafficking and that it will serve as a way for victims to connect with critical resources. The Department of Public Safety and Arkansas State Police are committed to protecting those at risk and holding traffickers accountable.”
Arkansas Human Trafficking Coordinator Sgt. Matt Foster added that the fight against human trafficking is a collaborative effort between agencies in the state. The Arkansas Human Trafficking Council, Arkansas Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Human Services Division of Children and Family Services assisted with the page.
Arkansas state officials have praised the effort, including Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Attorney General Tim Griffin.
