Thankfully, no one was injured, however the family has been left homeless.

A fundraiser has been started by friend Rebecca Evans to get the group back on their feet.

The appeal reads: “On Sunday, December 8, a very close friend’s daughter had a house fire.

“Not only have they lost their home and belongings they have also lost all the Christmas presents they had for the children.

“At the moment the family have had to split up so they all have somewhere to stay.

“I am starting this GoFundMe to try and get them something to help them get back on their feet, and hopefully enjoy their Christmas the best they can.”

The local community has rallied together with offerings for the kids, aged nine to 17.

In a comment on social media, Miss Brown said: “You don’t know how much I appreciate every message.

“I can’t reply to them all, but it means so much and we’re so grateful.

“I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.

“My children are safe. We are all split up at the moment but I’m hoping not for long and also not for Christmas.

“Thank you a million times over.”

The fundraiser has so far raised more than £1,400.

Local businesses have also offered support, with KC Occasions donating a Christmas balloon, Bugsy’s Bowling volunteering them a lane at their festive party, and a treat box from Mmm Delicious.

The fire started in the roof of the home and three engines attended the scene.

A fire service spokesman said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 10.36am on Sunday, December 8 to Glebelands in Ash to reports of a bungalow on fire.

“Three fire engines and a height vehicle attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which started in the roof of the property.

“There were no reported injuries, and the cause is believed to be accidental”
