Several people with Florida connections attended President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda on Monday.
Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, both Republicans, exit a bus together in front of the Capitol. Democrats Debbie Wasserman Schulz, D-Weston, and U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, D-West Palm Beach, walked into the Capitol Rotunda behind U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, the South Carolina Democrat whose support was key for Joe Biden in 2020. Frankel and other Democrats will be in the minority in the U.S. House as Trump begins his second term as president.
Another member of Palm Beach County’s congressional delegation, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, also attended the ceremony into the Capitol Rotunda. Chefilus-McCormick, a Democrat whose district covers parts of Palm Beach and Broward counties, is battling an ethics complaint and a Florida lawsuit regarding COVID her home healthcare business received.
