Fog returns again Thursday, cooler air on the horizon

UNINTERRUPTED, HIGH QUALITY CARE. END QUOTE. WE SAW SOME GOOD SUNSHINE AND A LOT OF LOCATIONS TODAY, AND THE TEMPERATURES RESPONDED VERY, VERY NICELY. SOME CLOUDS IN PLACE RIGHT NOW IN A FEW LOCATIONS, BUT LOOK AT THE VISIBLE SATELLITE VIEW. I THINK AS WE ADD IT ALL UP, IT WAS REALLY KIND OF A MOSTLY SUNNY LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON FOR THE NORTH SHORE. PARTLY SUNNY EVERYWHERE ELSE. BUT LET’S GO TO THE GULF. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS THAT WE’RE WATCHING TONIGHT, MAYBE 1 OR 2 SHOWERS. SMALL CHANCE FOR RAIN IN THE FORECAST TOMORROW BECAUSE OF AN UPPER LEVEL LOW, BUT LOOK AT THESE TEMPERATURES. HOLY COW, 81 BOGALUSA 79, BATON ROUGE 78 AT THE LAKE. BUT WE HAVE A DENSE FOG ADVISORY THAT’S ALREADY IN EFFECT. IT GOES INTO EFFECT AT MIDNIGHT, IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 A.M. TUESDAY. DOESN’T AFFECT THE METRO AREA. LET’S ALL JUST PRETEND THAT THE DENSE FOG ADVISORY AFFECTS ALL OF US, BECAUSE TOMORROW MORNING IT’S GOING TO BE FOGGY AND A LOT OF LOCATIONS, ESPECIALLY ON THE CAUSEWAY. I THINK IT’S PARTICULAR SPOT WHERE WE COULD HAVE SOME TROUBLE. 76 DEGREES. OUR TEMPERATURE OFFICIALLY AT THE AIRPORT. LOOK AT THAT 2.68. THAT’S NOT A MAY DEW POINT. THAT’S ALMOST A JUNE DEW POINT. LOT OF HUMIDITY IN THE ATMOSPHERE THANKS TO THAT SOUTH SOUTHEASTERLY WIND AT TEN MILES PER HOUR. WE’RE TRACKING A LITTLE BIT OF THAT RAIN IN THE GULF OF MEXICO, BUT WE DID SEE SOME GOOD SUNSHINE TODAY. THIS HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM BRINGING US THE SOUTHERLY WIND, NOT GOING TO MOVE MUCH OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, HOWEVER, LOOK VERY CLOSELY. YOU SEE THIS RIGHT HERE. IT’S A SPIN IN THE ATMOSPHERE, KIND OF A MID TO UPPER LEVEL LOW. WE THINK THAT MAY HELP TO BRING US A FEW SHOWERS TONIGHT AND TOMORROW. AND THE COMPUTER MODELS, THEY BACK THAT UP A COUPLE OF VERY LIGHT SHOWERS POSSIBLE LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. HERE WE ARE AT MIDNIGHT. LET’S GO FROM MIDNIGHT TO 6 A.M. 1234 SHOWERS, POSSIBLY. OUR MAIN CONCERN, THOUGH, IS GOING TO BE THE FOG THURSDAY MORNING FRIDAY MORNING, SATURDAY MORNING AS WELL. 20% CHANCE FOR SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON AGAIN ON THURSDAY. BUT THOSE SHOWERS ARE GOING TO BE MAINLY LIGHT. HERE’S THE BIG CONCERN. VISIBILITY FORECAST SHOWING US THURSDAY. VISIBILITY LESS THAN A MILE AT DAYBREAK FRIDAY. VISIBILITY LESS THAN A MILE IN MANY LOCATIONS AT DAYBREAK AND SATURDAY. WE’LL DO IT AGAIN. FOGGY STARTS FOR US THROUGH THE WEEKEND. EVEN SUNDAY LOOKS TO BE FOGGY, BUT THERE IS GOING TO BE A COLD FRONT APPROACHING. BEGIN A PORTION OF NEXT WEEK THAT’S GOING TO BE CHANGING OUR WEATHER. MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES IN OUR FORECAST TONIGHT AND ISOLATED SHOWER WITH THAT FOG DEVELOPING. PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT QUICKER THAN IT DID YESTERDAY. EVEN ONE, 2:03 A.M. THAT FOG COULD BE KIND OF THICK. WEATHER IMPACT DAY TOMORROW BECAUSE OF THAT MORNING FOG, THEN PARTLY CLOUDY WITH AN ISOLATED SHOWER. HIGH TEMPERATURES. WELL, IF WE GET TO 80 AND THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE ON THE GRAPHIC, WE WOULD TIE THE RECORD HIGH. WE’LL BE IN THE BALLPARK OF 80 ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE FOR US BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON. BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN BY FAR. COMING FOR US TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY. THE NEW ORLEANS SUPER BOWL HOST COMMITTEE PARADE WDSU, THE OFFICIAL BROADCAST PARTNER. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CHANCE FOR SHOWERS OUT OF THAT FORECAST. IF YOU CAN’T BE THERE IN PERSON, WATCH IT RIGHT HERE ON WDSU. AND A VERY, VERY, VERY SMALL CHANCE FOR A STRAY SHOWER. SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, MAINLY LATE IN THE DAY, BUT STILL VERY WARM. HIGH TEMPERATURE UPPER 70S THERE IT IS.

Fog returns again Thursday, cooler air on the horizon

Morning fog again will be our main concern over the next few days and into the weekend. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for The North Shore and the coast until 9am Thursday. The fog that will develop Wednesday night into Thursday morning may develop a little quicker than the fog previously this week, and a fog advisory is likely to be issued later today. An upper-level low may bring us a couple of showers on Thursday, but the chance of rain is only 20%, and those showers would be light. Temperatures will remain well above average all the way through the Super Bowl weekend, and morning fog will be an issue through Sunday. Saturday looks to be a mainly dry day, although will be a breezy, and on Sunday, we could have a very stray shower developing by the afternoon or evening. The best chance of rain by far comes on Tuesday, as a cold front will approach and bring us numerous showers and thunderstorms, that could contain some pockets of heavy rain. Behind the front, by Wednesday, cooler and dryer air will move in, with dew points getting back into the 40s, which is more typical for this time of year.
