A pizzeria owner is “shocked and hurt” after a pair of recent thefts at Francesca’s Brick Oven Pizza in Glen Rock.
Earlier in January, the pizza shop in the Rock Road central business district reported a theft of $5,700 in cash, which had been secured in a safe, officials said. The money was stolen some time between Jan. 17 and Jan. 18, according to the Glen Rock Police Department.
This past Saturday night, a second incident of theft at the restaurant was reported to the police, officials said. An additional $800 was missing.
“I’ve worked at this shop for 17 years and nothing like this has ever happened,” said Salvatore Reina, owner of Francesca’s Pizza and Pasta in Glen Rock and Elmwood Park.
Even though the owner of the pizzeria was devastated to find out about the thefts, he is not concerned with his safety or the safety of his employees.
“I’m more concerned about my staff in general. I want them to feel we have a nice work environment, and we still do,” said the owner. Reina explained to NorthJersey.com he will not let one situation ruin the positive atmosphere of the shop.
There were no signs of forced entry or damage to the safe, authorities said. The Glen Rock Police Department is actively investigating the alleged robbery.

The pizzeria is still operating on their regular hours. Reina said the shop has not missed a beat since the theft was reported to the police department.
Reina said the police department has been great with their assistance in the investigation. “They have been really helpful and professional.”
