The process will be re-evaluated ahead of the 2027 season, according to the league.While the top-flight side will not compete in this year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, a competition with which FCC has a storied history, the team’s MLS Next Pro team – FC Cincinnati 2 – will, marking one of 10 Next Pro sides to enter, along with 16 MLS first teams.FC Cincinnati’s first official match of 2025 will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 19 in Honduras against CD Motagua in their first Champions Cup match.Three days later, on Feb. 22, FCC will open their MLS schedule at home against the New York Red Bulls.
