(KTLA) — After days of firing off hate-filled posts to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kanye West’s account has gone dark.
Kanye West, otherwise known as “Ye,” wrote a farewell post Sunday night hours after his Super Bowl ad aired, advertising his shoe brand Yeezy.
“I’m logging out of Twitter,” the artist wrote. “I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.”
Elon Musk, owner of X, did not publicly reply to West’s note or the disappearance of his account as of Sunday night.
It is unclear whether X deactivated Ye’s account or if he willingly deleted it, reported Nexstar’s The Hill.
On Saturday, “Friends” star David Schwimmer spoke out against West’s X rampage, calling out Musk for being complicit.
“We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate-filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk,” Schwimmer said in an Instagram post. “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence.”
According to Billboard, West was initially banned from X in October 2022 for antisemitic posts, briefly reinstated in November, then re-suspended later that month.
Musk reinstated West’s account eight months later, according to Billboard.
In the past week alone, some of West’s most controversial posts to X included antisemitic claims such as “I’m a Nazi,” and “I love Hitler.”
Schwimmer’s post also mentioned West’s posts that said “I’m racist,” “I’m never apologizing for my Jewish comments,” and more.
“Silence is complicity,” Schwimmer’s post concluded.
