59, LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ALREADY HAS ITS GAME FACE ON WITH NEW SIGNAGE TO WELCOME VISITORS, ALL WHILE GIVING TOURISTS THEIR FIRST TASTE OF CULTURE HERE IN THE CRESCENT CITY. AND TODAY, LEADERS ALSO MADE A PRETTY BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. WDSU ARIELLE BRUMFIELD IS LIVE FOR US AT MSI WITH THAT BIG REVEAL, ARIELLE. WELL, RANDI IT WAS A PEP RALLY LIKE NO OTHER HERE AT MSI. IT ACTUALLY JUST WRAPPED UP, BUT THEY ALSO UNVEILED A NEW BRAND LOGO FOR THE AIRPORT, AND THEY’RE CALLING IT THE PLANE TO LEE. WE’RE TRYING TO GIVE YOU GUYS A CLOSE LOOK AT THIS RIGHT NOW, BUT THIS IS WHAT THEY’VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR MONTHS RIGHT NOW. THIS NEW BRAND LOGO, AND THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WILL SEE WHEN THEY COME INTO MSI. BUT IT WAS A PEP RALLY EARLIER TODAY. WE HAD THE SAINTS CHEER SQUAD OUT HERE. WE HAD ZULU TRAMPS OUT HERE. WE HAD CHEER AND CHEER SQUADS FROM WHAT SOUTHWEST DELTA, AMERICAN, UNITED SPIRIT, ALL OF THEM WERE OUT HERE. WE HAD TSA DANCERS, TSA MEMBERS, WORKERS. IT’S A GOOD TIME TO WELCOME IN PEOPLE FOR THE 59TH SUPER BOWL. EARLIER TODAY, WE HEARD FROM MAYOR LATOYA CANTRELL, WHO JUST HAS TALKED ABOUT THIS ENDEAVOR THAT HAS BEEN A MONTHS LONG PLANNING AND COLLABORATION FOR MANY CITY AND STATE LEADERS TO WELCOME THE SUPER BOWL IN HERE. SO IT’S A GOOD TIME, BUT WE ARE EXCITED JUST TO HAVE A LOT OF TOURISTS COME INTO THE AIRPORT. AND THIS IS SOMETHING THEY SAY THAT THEY’VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR SO LONG. The teams competing in the Super Bowl in New Orleans will arrive at the Louis Armstrong International Airport this weekend. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are set to arrive at MSY on Sunday. The NFC Champions, the Eagles, will arrive at 3 p.m. The AFC Champions, the Chiefs, will arrive at 4 p.m. The teams are not expected to give interviews or meet with fans. With the team comes two extremely dedicated fan bases. The New Orleans Airport is located in Kenner, Louisiana, which is about a 20-minute drive from downtown New Orleans.Thousands of people are expected to fly into the airport to attend the game this weekend.MSY officials unveiled new technology that would allow the airport to move travelers through Transportation Security Administration lines more efficiently.The technology is described as machines that have CT scanners that allow TSA officers to get a close look at the inside of your bag without opening it.There are also automated bin systems that let multiple passengers place their carry-ons in the bin at the same time. Those coming into New Orleans should arrange for transportation to the city either through a ride-share service or a rental car.When leaving the city, make extra time to get through security and make sure to track the status of your flight here.
