The new exhibit at the annual event allows visitors to get love and affection from fluffy Highland cows
UNDER TWO WEEKS AWAY. IT’S 609, AND WE’RE TAKING YOU OUT TO THE 109TH PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW, INCLUDING WHERE YOU CAN NOW CUDDLE SOME FLUFFY ANIMALS. THIS IS A NEW EVENT, AND FROM WHAT WE HEAR, THERE HAVE BEEN LONG LINES TO GET TO THESE COWS. LET’S GO TO NEWS EIGHT’S. JAY GRAY IS AT THE FARM SHOW COMPLEX THIS MORNING WITH A BIG BOTTLE OF MILK. WHAT’S THAT? JAKE. CAITLIN. GOOD MORNING. WELL, FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO TELL YOU, MY MOM AND MY SISTER ARE PROBABLY JEALOUS RIGHT NOW. THEY’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO MEET CUTE HIGHLAND COWS LIKE MUCHACHA AND OLAF. AND YOU CAN COME AND CUDDLE AND KISS THESE COWS. RIGHT NOW. WE’RE GOING TO FEED THEM WITH MILK VERY SOON HERE. BUT I HAVE DENNIS SCHWARTZ JOINING ME THIS MORNING IN BERKS. HEY, DENNIS, TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW THIS PROCESS WORKS. OKAY. SO WHEN YOU COME OUT TO THE FARM SHOW, LET ME GET YOU A BOTTLE THERE. YEAH. SO WHEN YOU COME OUT TO THE FARM SHOW, THE PEOPLE CAN COME RIGHT UP TO THE BOOTH, AND THEY CAN. THEY CAN ACTUALLY KISS THEM OR HUG THEM, WHATEVER THEY’D LIKE TO DO. YEAH, WE’VE HAD QUITE A FEW PEOPLE THE LAST COUPLE DAYS COME THROUGH THE BOOTH. YEAH. FOR SURE. AND, YOU KNOW, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU GUYS ARE HAVING THIS EXHIBIT HERE AT THE FARM SHOW. WHY BRING THIS OUT HERE? OKAY. BASICALLY, WE’RE TRYING TO GET. IT’S REALLY, REALLY GOOD FOR KIDS WHO HAVE NO EXPOSURE TO THE ANIMALS, THE FARM ANIMALS, TO GET A HANDS ON A LOT OF THESE. A LOT OF THESE KIDS HAVE NEVER TOUCHED A COW. YEAH. SO IT’S NICE FOR THEM TO SEE THEM INTERACT WITH THEM. AND THEY’RE SUPER FLUFFY. BUT ONE LAST QUESTION FOR YOU. WE KNOW THE PROCEEDS OF THIS GO TO THE FRIENDS OF THE PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW AS WELL. YES. THAT ALSO HAS SOME BENEFITS HERE AS WELL. YES. SO THE THE FRIENDS OF THE FARM SHOW IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS FUND DIFFERENT THINGS HERE. EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS AT THE AT THE SHOW. SO LIKE THE EXPLORER POST. SO THEY DO A LOT OF GOOD THINGS. SO WE HAVE A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS GO TO THEM. YEAH. ALL RIGHT DENNIS THANK YOU SO MUCH. WOW, MUCHACHOS. The theme of the 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show is Powering Pennsylvania, and sometimes, all it takes to power yourself through the day is cuddling some cute animals.A new exhibit at the Pennsylvania Farm Show this year allows visitors to do just that at the Kiss A Cow booth. Five fluffy Highland cows, Olaf, Moo Cha Cha, Winnie, Mateo and Ollie, met with guests of all ages. The cows are not used for beef or dairy. The use is only for love and affection.Swartz Farm, where the cows are from, said it’s their first time hosting an exhibit at the farm show, and the feedback of these “pasture puppies” has been positive.”It was just wonderful to see all the interactions with all the people coming through with the animals,” said Dennis Swartz, who is with the Berks County-based farm. “I’ve actually seen some kiss them on the lips. It was pretty funny.”A portion of the proceeds from farm show ticket sales go to the Friends of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Foundation.
