Another leader at the Landers Center in Southaven has been fired.
Jason Morgan, Landers Center chief financial officer, was fired on Monday night during a special board meeting of the DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau, which owns Landers Center. Executive Director Todd Mastry was also fired during this meeting.
Board Chair Amy Lovorn confirmed Morgan’s termination Thursday, but declined to comment on other personnel matters. It is unclear if the firings are isolated, or if more staff changes will occur in the future.
Morgan began his tenure with Landers Center in May 2021. Prior to that role, he was CFO of Agricenter International for nearly 11 years. Morgan did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
With Mastry’s termination, Landers Center general manager Joel Crews will lead as interim administrator. Lovorn said Tuesday a “national search” would be held to find Mastry’s replacement.
DESOTO COUNTY DEVELOPMENT: From Silo Square to Delta Landing, what’s next for DeSoto County’s biggest projects?
Both Morgan and Mastry played key roles in the Landers Center expansion project, which finally began construction in December. When completed, the Landers Center’s convention space will have quadrupled in size to 76,000 square feet, being able to accommodate nearly any type of event. A separately funded 240-room on-site hotel will complement the facility.
The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.
