A LaPlace man and his 16-year-old cousin were arrested and accused of armed robbery over the weekend in St. John the Baptist Parish. According to the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office, Johnte Tuco, 19, and his 16-year-old cousin are accused of an armed robbery at Greenwood Park in LaPlace on Saturday. Deputies responded to the park around 5:15 p.m., where they found a father who said his two young children, 11, and 7, had their bikes stolen at gunpoint. The father told deputies that one of the suspects pointed a gun at his children and threatened them. Deputies responded to an unrelated incident in the 400 block of Elm Street where Tuco was found sitting on one of the bikes that was stolen from the children, according to the sheriff’s office. Tuco ran away from the deputies but was later taken into custody. He was booked with illegal possession of a stolen firearm, armed robbery with a firearm, and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
