Dr. Nikolova is a distinguished consultant in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, currently serving as the founder and principal of Bioconsulting PRO. With a career spanning two decades, she has made significant contributions to drug approval processes and regulatory affairs. His professional journey began at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where she served as a senior staff fellow and product quality reviewer. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in the approval of several drugs, an achievement she holds in high regard. Following her time at the FDA, she joined Novartis as a regulatory CMC advisor, through which she provided critical guidance on chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) regulatory strategies.
In 2019, Dr. Nikolova transitioned to Parexel as a principal CMC consultant, further honing her expertise in regulatory affairs until 2021. She subsequently joined Allucent, initially as a senior regulatory scientist before being promoted to senior director of CMC regulatory affairs. Her exemplary performance led to her appointment as vice president at Allucent in 2023.
In addition to her role at Bioconsulting PRO, Dr. Nikolova is a partner at Barragan Bioconsulting. Her daily responsibilities include early morning meetings with clients in Asia, as well as the meticulous review of documents and providing strategic advice regarding next steps for various drug approval processes.
Dr. Nikolova’s academic background is equally impressive. She earned a PhD in human genetics from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine and furthered her expertise through a postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Molecular and Developmental Immunology at the FDA. Her passion for her work and belief in its significant impact on public health have been driving forces behind her success.
An active member of such industry-related organizations as the Pharmacists’ Defence Association, Dr. Nikolova has also contributed extensively to scientific literature. She has co-authored 10 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has been a speaker at several prestigious conferences, including the World Vaccine Congress in Washington, DC, and the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society in Montreal, Canada. Her notable publications include research on Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease, protein phosphatase involvement in endothelial contractile responses, and genetic diversity in Vibrio cholerae.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Nikolova enjoys hiking, traveling, attending theater performances and concerts, and visiting the French Alps. Looking ahead, she hopes to see Bioconsulting PRO grow and is considering expanding her team to explore new opportunities in gene cell therapy.
