Before that appointment, he served as director of project development at ABM Industries from 2007 to 2016. His earlier roles include senior energy analyst at Honeywell in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 2001 to 2007, senior project developer at Dominion Evantage in Richmond, Virginia, and principal mechanical engineer at The Greenwood Partnership in Lynchburg, Virginia. Mr. Brown began his career as a mechanical engineer at Summer Consultants in McLean, Virginia.
Throughout his career journey, Mr. Brown has been an active member of industry-related organizations. He serves as a member and treasurer of the board of directors for the Energy Management Association in Washington, D.C., and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). His involvement with these organizations underscores his commitment to advancing the field of energy management and sustainability.
Mr. Brown’s educational background laid the foundation for his successful career. He earned a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, in 1994. Further enhancing his expertise, he holds several certifications, including as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia; a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional from the U.S. Green Building Council; a Certified Energy Manager and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional from the Association of Energy Engineers; an Energy Management Professional from the Energy Management Association; and a High-Performance Building Design Professional from ASHRAE. His emotional intelligence and empathy have been pivotal in connecting with customers and setting him apart as an outgoing professional with a deep understanding of sales dynamics.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Brown has been deeply involved with environmental conservation efforts as part of the Eco Steward Cohort in the City of Sandy Springs since 2024 and serves as a sustainability ambassador for the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience. He supports the Atlanta Humane Society and is recognized for his intellectual contributions as a member of American Mensa since 2013.
