How much is a college sports program worth? CNBC ranked the 75 most valuable college athletic programs, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers made the top ten.
CNBC worked with Jason Belzer, the publisher of AthleticDirectorU, to complete the valuations of each athletic department. It should come as no surprise that the Big Ten and the SEC dominate the top of the list, with the two leagues holding nine of the top ten spots.
The SEC’s 16 members lead all conferences with a total worth of $13.3 billion, with an average of $832 million per school. The Big Ten is not far behind, with a total value of $13.2 billion and an average of $734 million per school.
The Huskers rank No. 8 overall and third in the Big Ten Conference. They have a valuation of $943 million with a total revenue of $205.
