A day after the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office dropped all charges against one of the defendants in May 2022 deadly shooting, they have added new charges for the other
SIX, AND WE’RE COMING STRAIGHT INTO WEATHER. BEAUTIFUL SHOT OF THAT SUNSET JUST BEHIND ME HERE. RIGHT NOW. WE’VE GOT ANOTHER WEATHER ALERT DAY COMING, BECAUSE THE CORE OF THE FRIGID AIR IS SETTLING IN UPON US. BUT GOING TO TALK ABOUT TODAY, THOUGH, WE STARTED OFF AS COLD AS 24 IN HAMMOND, 29 HERE IN TOWN, 32 BELLE CHASSE EVEN FREEZING ALL THE WAY TO GRAND ISLE. YOU WERE 32 THIS MORNING. COASTAL MISSISSIPPI, EVERYBODY FREEZING, EVEN LAKEFRONT DOWN TO 31, AND WE ONLY TOPPED OUT AT 44 HERE IN TOWN TODAY. THAT IS A RECORD FOR THE COLDEST HIGH TEMPERATURE OF THE DAY, A COLD RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE 48. WE MADE IT TO LAKEFRONT AND THAT WAS THE TOP TEMP WE’VE SEEN ALL ACROSS THE AREA. AND THAT WAS MAINLY DUE TO THE WATER TEMPERATURES INFLUENCING THAT HIGH. WHERE WE STAND ALREADY IN SOME 30S NORTH SHORE, 40 STILL SOUTH SHORE, BUT FACTOR IN THE WINDS STILL NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 10 TO 15. THAT’S A WIND THAT’S AVERAGED OVER A COUPLE OF MINUTES. WE’RE STILL FEELING LIKE 30 IN HAMMOND, FEELING LIKE FREEZING. LET’S GET INTO THE CORE OF THE COLD AND YOU’LL SEE THAT IT’S SETTLING RIGHT UP ON US HERE TONIGHT, TOWARDS TOMORROW. IF THERE’S ANY CONSOLATION, IT’S NOT GOING TO FEEL AS COLD. THE WINDS WILL START TO RELAX JUST A LITTLE BIT, BUT THERE IT IS. THE CORE OF THE COLD IS ON US, AND YOU START TO SEE IT LIFTING AWAY A LITTLE BIT AS WE GO TO FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY, BUT THEN INTO SATURDAY. WE’RE TRACKING OUR NEXT WAVE OF RAIN, AND THAT COULD HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE WEEKEND PARADES. I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU WHICH DAY IN WHICH PARADES. MORNING TEMPERATURES TOMORROW. THE COLDEST SPOTS COULD BE DOWN TO AS LOW AS 20 OVER THE NORTH SHORE. I’VE GOT US AT 30, WHICH WOULD SET A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE HERE IN NEW ORLEANS TOMORROW. THAT RECORD GOES ALL THE WAY BACK TO 1978. THE CURRENT RECORD IS 31 DEGREES, BUT WITH THE WIND CHILL COULD FEEL AS COLD AS 15 TOMORROW IN SOME SPOTS. SO COLD ADVISORIES IN PLACE, THEY GO UP AT NINE WILL GO ALL THE WAY UNTIL TEN TOMORROW. HERE TO A WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER ALERT DAY. NOW FOR THE NORTH SHORE. YOU ARE AT RISK OF SOME PIPES FREEZING IF YOU GET TO 20 DEGREES HERE. SOUTH SHORE I DON’T THINK WE GET THERE. WHAT’S THE REASON WHY 20 DEGREES IS THE MAGIC MARK? WELL, ACCORDING TO A BIG STUDY DONE. AND THIS WAS FOR SOUTHERN HOMES HERE THAT MAYBE AREN’T WELL PROTECTED WITH THE PIPES GOING BACK TO 1996, WHEN THE AIR TEMPERATURE HITS 20, THAT MEANS YOU SPENT A LONG ENOUGH TIME WELL BELOW FREEZING. THAT PUTS YOU AT RISK OF THE PIPES FREEZING. SO IF YOU SEE 20 IN YOUR FORECAST, WHICH I’VE GOT IN PARTS OF THE NORTH SHORE, YOU WANT TO TURN ON BOTH OF THOSE FAUCETS, RUN THAT LITTLE THIN STREAM OF WATER. WINDS STILL PRETTY CHOPPY, MAKING FOR LOCAL WATERS UP THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. A FEW CLOUDS ROLLING THROUGH FRIDAY, BUT NO RAIN. WE’RE STILL COLD. LOOK AT OUR AVERAGE HIGH FOR THE TIME OF THE YEAR 68. YOU’RE STILL 20 DEGREES BELOW THAT TOMORROW, BUT THEN YOU GOT TO COMBINE. THE WIND FEELS EVEN COLDER SO THE ALERT DAY WILL LAST ALL DAY. PARADE FORECAST FOR FRIDAY. AT LEAST WE STAY AWAY FROM THE RAIN, BUT YOU’RE GOING TO WANT TO BUNDLE UP TEMPERATURES IN THE 40S. WIND CHILLS EVEN COLDER. LOWS COMING INTO THE WEEKEND. THE LAST YEAR. THIS IS AN IMPACT DAY BECAUSE OF THE FREEZE HERE FOR THE NORTH SHORE. STILL 30 AND IT’S STILL A CHILLY DAY AS WE’LL FIND CLOUD COVER HERE. BUT AT LEAST WE’RE STAYING DRY. NOT UNTIL WE GET A LITTLE BIT LATER DO WE FIND THE RAIN TOP TEMPERATURES FINALLY RISING BACK INTO THE SOME 50S. WE’RE STILL WELL BELOW THAT AVERAGE, BUT PARADE FORECAST ON SATURDAY. STILL CALLING HERE FOR A COLD ONE. YOU’RE STILL GOING TO WANT TO STAY WARM, BUT WE STAY AWAY FROM THE RAIN. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE RAIN POTENTIAL OVERNIGHT SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY. THAT WAS LATE NIGHT HOURS. THIS IS SUNDAY MORNING AT 730 AND YOU LOOK THROUGH A BETTER PART OF THE DAY, EVEN TO 2:00. THAT’S A DECENT AMOUNT OF RAIN. AT LEAST. IT’S LIGHT, STEADY RAIN. IT’S NOT THE HEAVIEST TEMPERATURES INTO THE 50S, BUT THIS DOES MEAN THAT I’VE GOT SOME RAIN IN THE FORECAST FOR YOUR PARADE, SO I WOULD HAVE THE RAIN GEAR ALL PARADES ON SUNDAY ALL ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA RIGHT NOW. WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER ALERT DAY TOMORROW. THAT’S FOR THE COLD IMPACTS SATURDAY MOR
