New Orleans flights impacted by snow

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport seeing some flights cancelled, delayed due to snow

LANDSLIDES AND CONTAMINATED WATER. GOOD MORNING. TODAY IS AN ALERT DAY. WE’RE GETTING YOU READY FOR TOMORROW. SO WINTER FORECAST TIMELINE. WE’RE NOW 0 TO 1 DAYS AWAY, 24 HOURS AWAY. HERE’S WHAT I CAN TELL YOU. WE CAN GIVE YOU THE EXACT TIMING, THE LOCATIONS, THE OVERALL IMPACT THAT WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE FROM ALL OF THIS. SO LET’S JUST GET STARTED. WINTER STORM WARNING FOR ALL OF US HERE. THIS IS ALL DAY TUESDAY. SO STARTS EXACTLY AT MIDNIGHT, GOES ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE DAY. WE’RE WATCHING THIS LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOP DOWN NEAR TEXAS AS IT DOES. WE’RE WATCHING AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE ON OVER TOWARDS OUR DIRECTION. SO WE’VE ALREADY GOT THE COLD AIR IN PLACE. WE’RE JUST WAITING FOR THE PRECIPITATION TO MOVE OVER. SO TIMING OF THIS IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE. BUT THIS IS THE GENERAL TIMING OF IT, LIKELY BY TOMORROW MORNING. THIS TIME WE’LL LIKELY SEE A LITTLE BIT OF A WINTRY MIX TRYING TO ENTER IN. NOW A LOT OF THIS GOING TO CHANGE OVER INTO JUST SNOW, ESPECIALLY FOR THE METRO AREA, RIVER PARISHES, PORTIONS OF THE NORTH SHORE. BY THE TIME WE GET TO 9 A.M. SO STARTING OFF WINTRY MIX THEN TRANSITIONS OVER INTO SNOW AND IT LASTS THE MAJORITY OF THE DAY FOR YOUR TUESDAY. ONCE WE GET TO TUESDAY EVENING, THAT’S WHEN A LOT OF THAT WILL START TO LEAVE THE AREA. BUT IT IS LIKELY YOU COULD STILL SEE SOME ON THE GROUND BECAUSE TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO STRUGGLE TO RISE AS YOU GET INTO THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. SO HERE’S ANOTHER MODEL PUTTING THE TEMPERATURES ON HERE FOR YOU. AT THE SAME TIME. SO STARTING OUT FIRST, WINTRY MIX. LOOK AT YOUR TEMPERATURES FLIRTING WITH THE FREEZING MARK. AND THEN ONCE WE GET TO 8:00 9 A.M., THAT’S WHEN WE’LL START TO SEE THAT TRANSITION HAPPENING FOR A LOT OF US. AND THE DARKER THE COLORS, THAT’S THE HEAVIER THE RATES ARE. SO COULD BE SEEING SOME HEAVY SNOW FALLING AT THAT TIME. RIGHT AROUND NOON. THAT’S VERY POSSIBLE. NORTH SHORE TOO AS WELL. SO WE’LL KEEP WATCHING THAT. EVERYONE THOUGH GOING TO BE COLD THROUGHOUT THE DAY. HERE’S 6:00 PM. A LITTLE BIT OF THAT STARTING TO END WINTRY MIX. LEFTOVER RAIN ALONG THE COASTAL AREAS. SO STARTING FIRST THING TUESDAY MORNING, BASICALLY ENDING BY THE TIME WE GET TO THE EVENING, THEN THE NEXT STORY FOR US WILL BE THE COLD WEATHER THAT WE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT. HERE’S WHAT MODELS ARE TRYING TO PULL TOGETHER AS FAR AS TOTALS. SO WHEN YOU DO SNOW TOTALS, USUALLY DOUBLE IT TO 2 TO 4, 4 TO 8, 5 TO 10. BUT I DO THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE MORE IN THE 4 TO 6 INCH RANGE. BUT THIS IS GOING TO LOOK DIFFERENT IN ABOUT SIX HOURS. BLOWING SNOW. IF YOU NEVER DRIVEN IN SNOW BEFORE. I JUST CAME FROM OHIO FIVE YEARS AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT. VISIBILITY WILL BE AN ISSUE. THAT’S WHY. VERY HAPPY THAT A LOT OF STUFF, THINGS ARE GOING TO BE CLOSED FOR TOMORROW. WE COULD ALSO SEE A GLAZING OF ICE AS WELL. OVERALL IMPACT FOR ALL OF US. NOT GOING TO BE GREAT, ESPECIALLY AS YOU’RE HEADING BACK TOWARDS BATON ROUGE, OUT TOWARDS THE LAKE CHARLES AREA. SO WE’RE ALL GOING TO SEE THOSE IMPACTS. THIS IS UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY FOR US. SO TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW, AS YOU HEAD OUT THE DOOR, MAYBE YOU HAVE SOME LAST MINUTE ERRANDS TO RUN. JUST GETTING PREPARED. 20 RIGHT NOW IN THE NORTH SHORE, SOUTH SHORE, YOU’RE LOOKING AT THE 30S. SO THIS IS HOW WE ACTUALLY FEEL. WE DO FEEL LIKE WE’RE INTO THE TEENS AND THE 20S. WE NOW FEEL LIKE 19 DEGREES IN KENNER. SO IT’S VERY COLD. BUT HOWEVER, NOT GOING TO LOOK TOO BAD AS YOU HEAD THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AS FAR AS CONDITIONS GO. BUT IT’S GOING TO BE COLD THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE DAY. HIGHS FOR TODAY WILL MAKE IT INTO THE 40S. YOUR WIND GUSTS. THAT’S STILL GOING TO BE AN ISSUE FOR YOU, SO IT’S GOING TO FEEL A LOT COLDER FOR YOU AS YOU HEAD THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE DAY. HIGHS. AS I MENTIONED INTO THE 40S, LOWS FOR TONIGHT INTO THE 20S, BUT YOUR LOWS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL NIGHTS, WELL, THAT’S NOT GOING TO BE GOOD AT ALL. THAT’S WHY YOU DO STILL HAVE THOSE ALERT DAYS IN EFFECT FOR YOU. SO I’VE GOT TEENS ON THE NORTH SHORE, 20S ON THE SOUTH SHORE THAT CONTINUES. THAT’S TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. I COULD EVEN HAVE WIND CHILLS AS LOW A
