Another weather alert day for dangerous cold the an Alert Day for a flood threat in your New Orleans weather forecast. It’s another dangerously cold night with some around freezing along the South Shore, and everyone around 27 over the Northshore.A Freeze Warning is in effect for those around the lake, along with our River Parishes and northern portions of our Bayou Parishes. You see there aren’t any Cold Weather Advisories tomorrow, that’s because the wind chill won’t be as bad as the last couple mornings. But, it will still be very cold!Thursday morning will have fewer at risk from pipes freezing, but it will still be very cold affecting our morning routine.Clouds will increase on Thursday, but high temperatures will top out closer to 50 for some of us and others even further into the 50s.Rain Friday. Showers are likely by Thursday night, but the rain will be heaviest along a cold front that will pass through on Friday morning… right during the Friday rush hour.We could find widespread 1″-2″+ totals across all of Southeast Louisiana, but the latest trend is for the highest totals over the Northshore. This is why we’re under a risk for flooding right now triggering a WDSU First Warning Weather ALERT Day.Briefly, before the cold front passes through, the warmest temperatures of the day will skirt in along with gusty south winds and could get as warm as the mid 60s.But don’t be surprised by the temperatures on Friday as much colder air moves in through the day! Temperatures will drop back into the 40s by midday and through the afternoon, so don’t be caught off guard! We’ll find some sunshine on Saturday but it will still be chilly.Clouds are back on Sunday and I’m watching the very low chance of very light rain/drizzle potential. If that were to interact with below freezing temperatures, that will spell freezing rain, or dreaded ice. Right now, indications are if rain is to form it would evaporate before reaching the ground but this is something I’ll be monitoring very closely.Clouds will hang around into next week too, along with chilly temperatures.Looking at everything together in your seven day forecast it’s another very cold day on Thursday, then possible flooding moves in by Friday morning. Chilly temperatures stay through the weekend and will last into next week too.Keep warm and stay safe!- Devon
