(WKBN) – We are experiencing a traditional winter across northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania to this point of the season.
The year has kicked off with colder temperatures and intervals of snow. More winterlike weather is on the way this week.
So far, the season has stacked up a total of 14 days with snow on the ground officially at the Youngstown/Warren regional airport. These numbers go back to December 1, 2024. That was the start of meteorological winter.
However, those days were not consecutive. The longest stretch so far this winter was back in December when we had four consecutive days with snow on the ground. That will change soon as cold temperatures and more snow will increase our current stretch of days.
Our snowpack is not going anywhere anytime soon. It will be hard to challenge the top ten list this year.
We are off to a fast start with snowfall across the region.
When was the longest stretch of days with snow on the ground?
When looking at snow on the ground for this article the data must have at least a 0.1″ of an inch recorded on the ground for the day at the Youngstown/Warren regional airport.
