HISTORIC SNOWFALL. THAT’S RIGHT TAYLOR, WE’RE TRYING TO MAKE A SNOWMAN. I’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. SO, YOU KNOW, BEAR WITH ME HERE. SO FAR, IT’S LOOKING LIKE A SNOW MOUNTAIN. AIR OUT OF BREATH NOW. OKAY. THAT’S ENOUGH. THERE’S A MARDI GRAS TREE BEHIND ME. IT’S COVERED IN SNOW. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 8:00 EARLIER THIS MORNING, AND IT JUST HAS NOT LET UP. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IS FORECASTING. OR THEY WERE FORECASTING UPWARDS TO FOUR INCHES OF SNOW. AND NOW IT COULD BE MORE THAN THAT AS THIS POTENTIALLY HISTORIC SNOWSTORM CONTINUES TO JUST FALL ONTO THE GROUND HERE. THE RECORD HERE IN MOBILE WAS ACTUALLY SET BACK WAY IN 1895. SIX INCHES. AND WITH US PREVIOUSLY FORECASTING FOUR INCHES AND EXPECTING MORE, WE COULD BE NEAR OR EVEN BREAK THAT RECORD. SO THIS IS GOING TO BE INTERESTING, BUT IT’S ALSO GOING TO BE FUN. NOW, THE COUNTY DID SAY THAT ALL ROADS AND BRIDGES AT THIS POINT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED UNPASSABLE OR IMPASSABLE. BUT IF YOU’RE OUT AND ABOUT, JUST STAY AT YOUR CAR AND ENJOY THE SNOW LIKE I’M DOING HERE AT MARDI GRAS PARK. YOU KNOW WHAT? FORGET THE SNOW, MAN. ARE THIS IS STILL FUN, RIGHT? SNOWBALLS. SNOWBALL FIGHTS.

The roof of the Mobile Civic Center collapsed early Wednesday morning under the weight of “excessive snow,” according to the city.

As of 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, the City of Mobile recorded 7.5 inches of snow.
