COLP, Ill. (WSIL) — Two people face multiple charges after deputies said they used stop sticks while trying to stop a fleeing vehicle.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened on January 22, at 11:41 p.m. in Colp.
The sheriff’s office said deputies were in a parking lot near Andrew Springs Road and Attucks Street and then tried to pull over a vehicle which had some lights illuminated.
County officials then said the suspect vehicle fled.
Law enforcement said they put down stop sticks at one point to stop the vehicle. Once the vehicle ran over the stop sticks, it then stopped and the driver and passenger refused to get out of the vehicle, the sheriff’s office stated.
The sheriff’s office then said deputies got them out of the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Misty Maze, while the passenger was identified as Christopher Gibson.
Gipson also was accused of kicking a deputy while being taken into custody. Deputies found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine inside the vehicle and narcotics in Maze’s possession, the sheriff’s office added.

Maze and Gibson were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
