Sudbury-Wayland domestic violence group holds Valentine collection for those in shelters

SUDBURY — The Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable is collecting Valentine donations for families in shelters, members said in a recent press release.

Each February, the organization fills gift bags for adults and children temporarily living in local domestic violence shelters and transitional housing programs, including REACH Beyond Domestic Violence, The Second Step and Voices Against Violence.

Children from Sudbury Extended Day decorate the Valentine bags.

Community members are invited to participate in this collection. Donations can be dropped off at Sudbury Wine & Spirits, 410 Boston Post Road, Sudbury. The collection began on Jan. 27 and will end on Feb. 10.

The public is invited to help assemble the bags at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 11, at the Sudbury Grange, 326 Concord Road, next to Sudbury Town Hall.

The Domestic Violence Roundtable encourages civic organizations, workplaces, families, friends and neighbors to contribute. Small acts of kindness, such as gift bags, help families feel supported in their decision to leave abusive situations.
