A man of many passions, Butch will forever be remembered for his love of family, his unwavering faith and his zest for life.
On February 5, 2025, he embarked on his final journey, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Butch began his marvelous journey of life in Sydney, Ohio, before finally settling in Corbin, Kentucky. He spent a significant part of his professional life as a Parts Counter Clerk in the automotive industry, showing remarkable dedication and work ethic. However, work was just one facet of his life. Butch was a man of faith and a devoted member of Brays Chapel Church. He found solace and strength in his beliefs, which guided him throughout his life. Butch was also an avid outdoorsman, who found great joy in fishing and hunting. He was a man who truly knew how to savor the simple, beautiful moments of life, a quality that made him so endearing. Butch embodied this sentiment, touching lives and making a profound impact through his actions and words.
Butch was a pillar of strength and love for his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of over 55 years Selina “Smiley” Boyd of Corbin, KY. whom he married on October 18, 1969. Their love story, spanning over five decades, is a testament to their commitment and devotion.
He is also survived by his children, John Boyd of Winchester, KY., Stacey Grubb (Randy) of Corbin, KY., and Chuck Boyd of Corbin, KY; and his grandchildren, Jessica Boyd, Tessa Boyd, Jacob Richardson, Branden Grubb (Cas), Joshua Grubb (Mary), and children, Makalyn Peace (Wade), Jayden Boyd, and MaLeigha Boyd.
His great-grandchildren, Braylnn Spray, Arabella Hayes, and Zoey Jones, will grow up with stories of his warmth and love. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Boshears (Mike) of Bethel, Ohio, Sue Collins of Bethel, Ohio, Della Cable of Bethel, Ohio, and Jean Smith of Bethel, Ohio. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of other families and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herstel and Della (McDonald) Boyd and several brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Life was Saturday, February 8, at Croley Funeral Home. We invite all who knew Butch to join us in remembering and celebrating his remarkable life.
