This year, Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, falls on Tuesday, March 4. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate, here’s how to get involved…

FAMILY FUN

You can’t beat the classics, and that includes a good old-fashioned pancake race.

Visitors can compete against the staff and clergy at Canterbury Cathedral in a spirited pancake race in the cathedral’s Precincts, followed by a freshly-cooked pancake made in the Community Studio.

The races begin at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm on Saturday, March 1 and you’ll need to book in advance to get your pancakes, but it’s all free to attend.

The Fed on the Green Cafe in Bearsted, near Maidstone, is also hosting a free family race on Tuesday, March 4 from 4pm on Bearsted Green.

There will be a prize for Best Flipper, so you’d better get practising, and the cafe itself will have a special pancake-themed menu running all week.
