Benton Fire Chief Shane Cockrum stated a total of three homes had damage, two of them a total loss and the third with siding damage from the fire.

Cockrum said a 911 call first came from a neighbor who stated a home was on fire. This home was reported to have been vacant but was being remodeled.

The second home next door was a vacation home. Nobody was home at the time of the fire.

More than 40 fire personnel were on scene battling the fire.

Cockrum said they do not believe the fire was suspicious, however, the state fire marshal was called in to investigate.
