President Elon Musk, during the first Cabinet meeting of his new administration, allowed also-President Donald Trump a few moments to speak Wednesday. And when Trump spoke, he uttered a phrase that will no doubt stand tall among quotes from great American leaders past.
“This country has gotten bloated and fat and disgusting,” Trump said.
Inspiring rhetoric that will surely uplift the masses off their bloated, fat and disgusting keisters. I guess.
President Trump, with a historically low approval rating, slams America
President Donald Trump speaks during a cabinet meeting at the White House in Washington, DC, on February 26, 2025.
Adding to the unifying, patriotic message, Trump criticized former President Joe Biden, calling him “the worst president in the history of our country” and “a disgrace.”
Trump, America’s first-ever convicted-felon president, showed great courage in not mentioning that his approval rating, according to Gallup, is “15 points below the historical average for all other elected presidents in mid-February since 1953.”
I assume Trump thinks Gallup is bloated and fat and disgusting as well.

Who can forget Reagan’s classic ‘America sucks’ speech
I’m sure some naysayers out there will criticize the president for speaking so disparagingly of America, just as I’m sure Republicans would have been totally chill if a Democratic president had called America “disgusting.”
But here’s the truth: No president has honored his country with such soaring rhetoric since Ronald Reagan uttered the oft-quoted line, “America, you absolutely suck. I mean, how do you even look at yourself in the mirror in the morning, you dumpy, miserable wretch.”
President Ronald Reagan and first lady Nancy Reagan at the White House in the fall of 1987.
What’s remarkable here, really, is the speed in which America apparently let itself go.
Four years ago, as Trump was wrapping up his first term and trying to overturn the results of a free-and-fair election, he reflected on America, he said: “Incomes soared, wages boomed, the American dream was restored, and millions were lifted from poverty in just a few short years. It was a miracle.”
Your Turn: Trump’s first month has been devastating. And people voted for all of this.
He added: “But the greatest danger we face is a loss of confidence in ourselves, a loss of confidence in our national greatness. A nation is only as strong as its spirit. We are only as dynamic as our pride. We are only as vibrant as the faith that beats in the hearts of our people.”
We’ve really let Trump down by becoming ‘disgusting’
Well, it appears “our people” really whizzed the bed in a very short period of time, because America is now “bloated and fat and disgusting,” according to the same guy who previously said all that nice stuff.
Like most Americans, I’m going to need a little time to reflect on my disgusting self. I’m just grateful we finally have a leader who is unafraid to tell us he can’t stand the sight of us and, by the way, those jeans do make us look fat.
